3 new video’s on my website

I have made 3 videos to demonstrate the PACE process. PACE stands for:

Positive

Active

Clear

Energising

Like all Brain Gym movements this process is not a time consuming or costly. They are easy to learn and don’t require any special equipment. Doing these 4 movements everyday will help you find your unique timing and flow. Paul Dennison, founder of Brain Gym®, describes this process as “the relaxed, unstressed, self-initiated pace that allows for optimal learning”. It helps us give our best. When you make it a daily practice you remind yourself again and again about how to be at your best for learning and moving. No matter your age or ability this process can be adapted to suit you. Do it sitting, standing and even lying down. PACE your self today.

How to use these videos: You can use them at home, at work or in the classroom. Choose the one you need and have a great day.

2 SUCCESSFUL WORKSHOPS IN NELSON IN APRIL

We had a wonderful 2 days in Nelson this school holidays with 2 groups. On the 14th April a keen group of teachers from around the district attended an Introduction to Brain Gym. On the 15th April we had an equally enthusiastic group of teacher aids, teachers and adult carers keen to know how to use Brain Gym with people with special needs.

Thank you to all who attended. I hope you are all using what you learnt this week.

Can Standardised Testing be harmful?

In this short video, linguist Noam Chomsky expresses his concerns about standardised testing and identifies key concerns about the artificial ranking of children and teachers in the classroom. The danger he says is that teachers are less creative and a child’s natural abilities are often not developed because it doesn’t fit the test. Classic teaching to the test.

Introduction to Brain Gym® – 1 day workshop in Nelson: Tuesday 14th April 2015

This workshop has been run in Nelson for 4 years in a row.

Brain Gym® is a series of 26 movements that directly enhance brain function creating stress-free and enjoyable learning. Ideas and learning must translate into effective actions—so how do children get to this? How do we help them do it? Learn Brain Gym® “intentional movement” for developing innate movements into the physical/conscious basis for learning:

  • eye movements for looking
  • head movements for listening
  • body movements for action, balance and orientation in three dimensions
  • calming activities for emotional and physical self-management

These combine for attention, symbolic thinking, success and pleasure in reading, writing and maths. Brain Gym® can be used to enhance learning abilities for both excellent learners as well as those who find learning a challenge.

The Brain Gym® program is used in classrooms around the world. A skilled teacher can also identify individual students as candidates to benefit from specific movements.Teachers report improved work and happier, more manageable classrooms. Students report getting work done more easily and enjoying learning more. These big outcomes are desirable anywhere, anytime!

Brain Gym® is recognised in over 80 countries and is used in schools at Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary level and also for improved performance in Arts, Music, Business and high level sport.

This Brain Gym® workshop teaches the 26 movements and how to apply those using specific Brain Gym® processes and techniques.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in attending but specifically useful for those working in Education, Special Needs, Early Childhood, or disciplines involving movement education.
